- Do I need hosting or a domain to use Lading?
- No. Every plan includes hosting, storage and a subdomain for your dashboard. On Scale you can point your own domain at it, so your customers never see the Lading name.
- Can I start on Starter and move up later?
- Yes, and back down again. Plans change at any time and your data is untouched by the switch — moving up simply unlocks the extra sections.
- How is AI usage billed?
- Scale includes $20 of AI credit every month, renewed with your subscription whether or not you topped up last month. It does not carry over. Past that you add balance and are charged per action — a document captured, a question answered, a shipment proposed — never per token. You set a ceiling per day, week or month, and when the balance is gone AI simply pauses; the rest of Lading carries on.
- Do questions from my customers cost me money?
- Yes — the portal agent is billed to you, not to them, which is exactly why it ships switched off. Turn it on when you want it, give it its own spending ceiling separate from the rest, and turn it off whenever you like.
- What exactly does Lading AI do with my data?
- Every company runs on its own separate database. Your documents and customer records are never used to train shared models, and each AI feature can be turned off per role if you would rather your team typed it themselves.
- Is the AI allowed to act on its own?
- No. It drafts and suggests — a filled-in pre-alert, a proposed customs code, a consolidation plan — and a person approves before anything is committed. The one exception is the portal agent answering questions, and it hands over to your team the moment a question is outside what it can see.
- Can I bring my own AI provider account?
- Larger operations with their own vendor contract can connect their own key; get in touch and we will set it up. For everyone else the included balance is simpler and cheaper.
- I already use another system. Can I migrate?
- Yes. Get in touch and we will look at what you are on today. Migration is quoted separately, because the price depends entirely on the shape of the data we are moving.
- If I leave, can I take my data?
- Yes. Ask and we will export everything you have entered into the system, in a format you can actually open.
